COMPANY HISTORY

Brown Aviation Tool Supply Co. was founded in 1991 by Michael Brown.  Michael had been an aircraft structures mechanic and realized the need for quality tools at reasonable prices. He began the company by traveling all over Oklahoma, Texas and Arkansas and selling used and surplus tools from the back of his pick-up truck. When not on the road selling his wares, the tubs of surplus and used tools were stored in the dining room of his apartment.  In 1992, Michael rented a very small, 300 square foot storefront near the Oklahoma City airport. Every few years continued growth of the business dictated a move to a larger facility and after three of these moves and with no end to growth in sight, it was time to stop renting and buy a facility that would house Brown Tool and provide enough space for future growth. In the summer of 2005, Brown Aviation Tool purchased a 10,200 square foot warehouse and office building on 4.6 acres of land in the heart of Oklahoma City. The facility is located just minutes from the front gate of Tinker Air Force Base and is less than one mile from the junction of I-35 and I-40. The larger warehouse has allowed the company to greatly expand its offering of aircraft tools and related products, and the extra acreage will permit the addition of even more warehouse space which is already in the planning stages.

Now in its 32nd year, Brown Aviation Tool has grown from a very small one-man operation headquartered in Michael's apartment dining room to one of the largest and most respected suppliers of aircraft tools in the world with sales approaching ten million dollars annually. Today, Brown Tool's customers include major and regional airlines, governments, repair stations, defense contractors, technical schools, kit builders, and individual technicians all over the world. The Brown Aviation Tool Supply story is a perfect example of the "American Dream" and demonstrates what can happen with a lot of hard work and, of course, a little bit of luck.
